First Hike with the Voigtlander 90mm f/2.8 APO-Skopar

While I purchased the Voigtlander 90mm f/2.8 APO-Skopar mainly for portrait work, it is proving itself to be quite the nice addition to my bag for all types of photography.  Tonight the plan was for a short hike around a local favorite, Cedar Creek Park with the Leica M10 and a bag full of primes.  The light was softly overcast and the stream was near overflowing from the earlier rains.

I’ve used this 90mm f/2.8 lens quite extensively for the past week at my Church’s Vacation Bible School and now walking around framing some landscapes.  My first impressions are that this lens is fantastic.  It is quite small for a 90mm at f/2.8 and even more impressive is that is an apo-chromatic lens to boot.  The dreaded ‘purple fringing’ seems very well controlled, even wide open on this lens and overall sharpness, tonality, flare resistance and handling all seem top notch.  For the work that I do, this lens will perform better than I can.  The next 4 images are from the Voigtlander 90mm.

Since I brought my other lenses with me, I opted to use them as well, below are a mix of shots from a 21mm, 35mm and 50mm.
